Chinnar Wildlife sanctuary is a famous Munnar attraction. It is situated in the eastern region of the Southern Western Ghats. The sanctuary shares its borders with Eravikulam National park and Indira Gandhi wildlife sanctuary. One of the best places in Munnar, the 90 km-long sanctuary is known for its ecology, geography, and culture. Famous as one among the twelve restricted areas in Kerala, Chinnar is a haven for wildlife and a perfect destination for trekking. Rich and varied animals, birds, and plants make Chinnar’s visit unforgettable. On your visit, you will spot the endangered Indian grizzled giant squirrel, Elephants, tufted grey langur, Hanuman Monkeys, Gaur, Crocodile, Spotted Deer, Tiger, Leopard, slender Loris, along with an array of plants and bird species.
Among the other tourist places, Munnar is known for its trekking through a forest region that has sandalwood forest, medicinal plants, and more in addition to the wide range of other ecotourism activities like river trekking, trekking to the cultural site, watchtower, Thoovanam falls, treehouse visit and the trekking and camping at Vasyappara.
