The best time to visit Lakshadweep is between October and the mid of May. During this time period, the weather is pleasant and perfect to enjoy water sports or to go for a stroll. Though the island is open for vacationers throughout the year, during monsoon Lakshadweep cruise is stopped as sailing is difficult. During monsoon, tourists can visit Agatti and Bangaram islands, via flight but other islands are not accessible. However during the rainy season, it is difficult to conduct watersports, but the beauty of the island is enhanced during this time.
How To Reach Lakshadweep
You can reach Lakshadweep via Air or Water.
- By Air: The only airport in Lakshadweep is located at Agatti Island. From Agatti, travelers can go to other islands in a helicopter, ship, or boat.
- By Ship: From Cochin, ships are operated on a regular basis. There are Seven passenger ships operated between Cochin and Lakshadweep, and they are MV Arabian Sea, MV Kavaratti, MV Bharat Seema, MV Dweep Setu, MV Lakshadweep Sea, and MV Minicoy, MV Amindivi Sea. It takes around 14 to 20 hours to reach Lakshadweep from Cochin. In the ships, different classes of accommodation are available like A/C Deluxe Class (with 2 berth cabins), A/C First Class (with 4 berth cabins) and Tourist Class (with A/C seating and without A/C cabin berths) The ships are fully-equipped with medical assistance, entertainment lounge, cafeteria, etc. Also from October to May, boat services are available from Agatti island to Kadmat and Kavaratti.
